A Polylogarithmic PRG for Degree 2 Threshold Functions in the Gaussian Setting

چکیده

We construct and analyze a new pseudorandom generator for degree 2 polynomial threshold functions with respect to the Gaussian measure. In particular, we obtain one whose seed length is polylogarithmic in both the dimension and the desired error, a substantial improvement over existing constructions. Our generator is obtained as an appropriate weighted average of pseudorandom generators against read once branching programs. The analysis requires a number of ideas including a hybrid argument and a structural result that allows us to treat our degree 2 threshold function as a function of a number of linear polynomials and one approximately linear polynomial. 1998 ACM Subject Classification G.3 Probability and Statistics

Comparative Analysis of Image Denoising Methods Based on Wavelet Transform and Threshold Functions

There are many unavoidable noise interferences in image acquisition and transmission. To make it better for subsequent processing, the noise in the image should be removed in advance. There are many kinds of image noises, mainly including salt and pepper noise and Gaussian noise. This paper focuses on the research of the Gaussian noise removal. It introduces many wavelet threshold denoising alg...

The Threshold Reaction of Price Setting Behavior Indexes to Inflation Rate Changes: An Application of Price Micro Information to Understand the Changes of Price Rigidity Degree

In this paper we measure the price stickiness in Iran’s economy. More specifically, we use sub-aggregates data of consumer price index from 1990:3 to 2014:2 to investigate the analyze the frequency and size of price changes and test whether they are affected from the CPI variations. This is important as it determined how much the monetary authority can expect to have influence on the real ec...

Average Sensitivity and Noise Sensitivity of Polynomial Threshold Functions

We give the first non-trivial upper bounds on the average sensitivity and noise sensitivity of degree-d polynomial threshold functions (PTFs). These bounds hold both for PTFs over the Boolean hypercube {−1, 1}n and for multilinear PTFs over R n under the standard n-dimensional Gaussian distribution N (0, In). Our bound on the Boolean average sensitivity of PTFs represents progress towards the r...

Bayesian Estimation of Shift Point in Shape Parameter of Inverse Gaussian Distribution Under Different Loss Functions

In this paper, a Bayesian approach is proposed for shift point detection in an inverse Gaussian distribution. In this study, the mean parameter of inverse Gaussian distribution is assumed to be constant and shift points in shape parameter is considered. First the posterior distribution of shape parameter is obtained. Then the Bayes estimators are derived under a class of priors and using variou...

Wavelet Threshold Estimator of Semiparametric Regression Function with Correlated Errors

Wavelet analysis is one of the useful techniques in mathematics which is used much in statistics science recently. In this paper, in addition to introduce the wavelet transformation, the wavelet threshold estimation of semiparametric regression model with correlated errors with having Gaussian distribution is determined and the convergence ratio of estimator computed. To evaluate the wavelet th...
